Henshaws Community Services enable people of all ages living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to make informed choices about their future. Independence and friendship are at the heart of what we do to help people find the confidence to go beyond their expectations.

Henshaws is a northern charity that helps people living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to achieve their ambitions and go beyond expectations. Our support, advice and training enables people and their families to build skills, develop confidence, help each other and look forward to a more positive future.

As a Children and Young People’s (CYP) Enablement Officer as part of this project, you will implement Henshaws Children and Young People’s Pathway with specific focus on delivering Friendship Matters Activities for CYP across Merseyside.

Our Friendship Matters (FM) activity programs provide CYP opportunity to take part in fun, social and leisure activities and challenge themselves to take part in new experiences while meeting and making friends and developing their self-esteem, confidence and independence ensuring CYP have the same social and leisure opportunities as their sighted peers.

Experience of working with and supporting children or young people aged 0 to 18 years or working with or supporting parents, families and carers including group activities and/or one to one activities is essential. Experience of supporting children and young people and/or adults with disabilities is preferred but full training and induction will be given.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate sensitivity towards diverse needs and difficulties faced by children, young people and families where disability has impacted on their lives.
