Heswall Disabled Children’s Holiday Fund – Charity Administration Officer

Term: 1 year fixed contract, with the option to extend and/or conversion to permanent contract subject to funding at the end of that year
Hours: 40 Hours per week, flexible
Salary: £24-30k pa
Location: Home-working, within easy reach of the greater Wirral/Merseyside area

About the Charity

Heswall Disabled Children’s Holiday Fund is a charity based in the Wirral area that has been hosting free holiday camps for disabled children across the North West of England and North Wales for 60 years and is currently expanding to try and help more children and young adults across the country. The Charity has been awarded an “Outstanding” rating by Ofsted every year since they started inspections of holiday camps, and in 2017 was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Introduction

Whilst this position is broad and varied, we anticipate this person to play a key role in the growth of our charity. Responsibilities include:

Administration:
Day to day administrative tasks to support smooth running of charity
Prepare reports for Trustees
Source suitable venues and accommodation
Process and record volunteer DBS records
Ensure all 3rd parties are covered by DBS

Charity Awareness:
Increase charity awareness and engage with families
Organise and run open days
Updating social media and responding to online queries
Attend relevant events, schools or groups to raise charity awareness

Volunteer Recruitment:
Liaise with current and prospective volunteers
Track and progress volunteer applications
Arrange and support volunteer interviews
Maintain database of volunteers to support charity activities

Fundraising:
Write applications for grants
Present at funding boards
Support events organised by the charities volunteer fundraising team

Misc:
Ad-hoc project work
Charity communications and collateral
Charity forward planning

Required Skills:
Strong knowledge of modern computing tools, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent)
Events management
Exceptional administrative and organisational skills
Experience supporting stakeholders
Ability to understand individual care requirements
A self starter with a can do attitude, able to work independently
You will need to be empathetic and compassionate with high energy, someone who understands the needs of others and will act as an ambassador for the charity.
