Builder Book UK offers free annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) based creativity packs to children and their families. So far, they have delivered 40k packs across Merseyside, Flintshire and Lancashire.
Through art, storytelling and creativity, they aim to increase literacy, well-being, community action and encourage family time together. It was set up in 2020 by authors Jude Lennon and Natalie Reeves Billing DL.
For this year’s campaign, they received funding of almost £3000 from the LCVS Community Impact Fund. This was used towards the printing of 10k eco-friendly STEAM-based packs on sustainability called the Builder Book Planet Pack, which are currently being distributed across Liverpool.
Natalie Reeves Billing DL, one of the founders of Builder Book UK discusses the funding given by LCVS this year:
“It was absolutely essential. It came in right at the beginning of our fundraising activities and helped us to get the ball rolling, which is always the hardest part.”
Natalie goes on to discuss the general support given by LCVS over the years:
“LCVS has been a constant support to us with advice and resources over the years, and this year with financial support for our most important project yet,”
“The support is not just financial, but it also helps people to build greater knowledge and expand their networks.”
You can inquire about the interactive packs via their website (link below). However, please note that they only have a limited number of packs left this year. If you would like to order a pack, you must be able to receive it before the summer holidays, as it contains time-sensitive summer activities.
