Imagine Independence Vacancy – Trustees

Imagine Independence is a charity with a positive approach to mental health which works to promote opportunities for people to live a full and independent life. We are proud to have the support of up to 150 volunteers and over 200 staff members to help those who need us.

Position: Trustees Job Reference: 16/28
Salary: Non-remunerated role; however, expenses will be reimbursed

We are looking to recruit board members who will demonstrate a passion and commitment to improving the lives of our service users: people with mental health issues, learning and physical disabilities, those leaving custody and older people with care needs.

We are particularly looking for candidates who:

  • Identify themselves as having lived experience of using our own or similar services We want this experience to be used positively. We encourage board members to be ambassadors for our work and to raise further awareness of the issues surrounding these groups of people
  • Have experience of operating at a strategic level and are committed to making a difference within neighbourhoods in which we operate
  • Have professional knowledge and/or experience of this sector or services mentioned above
  • Have financial, development, fundraising or marketing skills/background

We are keen – but not exclusively so – to recruit Trustees in Lancashire, London and Cumbria.

Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community, but we also wish to increase the diversity and skills mix of our Board. Therefore, we would particularly embrace applications from young people and from BME communities, as this is an area in which we are currently under-represented. In this way, we feel that the Board can best serve the needs of the diverse communities in which we work.
