Knowsley Disability Concern Vacancy: Learning Disabilities Project Coordinator

Salary: £22,000 p.a.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Contract: 12 months, pending confirmation of ongoing funding

Knowsley Disability Concern (KDC) is a charitable organisation providing a range of support services to help disabled people in Knowsley live independently and enjoy equal rights and full social inclusion.

KDC facilitates the Being Involved Group (BIG Group), a well-established self-advocacy service supporting people with learning disabilities to come together in small, local groups across Knowsley, to have their say and influence the way services are designed and delivered.

With a membership of around 100 people, the BIG Group offers opportunities for people to be involved, engaged and develop the skills they need to increase their chances to participate fully in society.

The Project Coordinator will organise and facilitate BIG Group meetings and coordinate the delivery of a new programme of learning and development activities. You will have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities individually as well as in group settings, and a passionate commitment to helping them develop their potential.  A good understanding of self-advocacy practice and principles is essential.

The role calls for strong organisational and planning abilities together with excellent communication skills.  A track record in supporting people to achieve individual learning outcomes would be advantageous. Applications from people with a disability are encouraged.

For an application form, detailed job description and person specification, email recruitment@kdc.org.uk, quoting reference LDPC1116, or download online.

For an informal discussion, contact Joyce Greaves on 0151 480 4090.

Closing date for applications: Monday 28 November 2016.
