Koala North West – Early Years Senior Co-ordinator/Oral Health Champion

Contract: 2 year, with continuation beyond that subject to funding.
Term: Full-Time.
Salary: £24,507. Increasing to £25,242 after successful completion of 6 month probationary period.
Hours per week: 37 hours.
Reporting to: Early Years Service Lead.
Location: Liverpool.

Job Overview

Koala North West are looking for someone with parenting experience who is passionate about supporting parents and children during the early years to lead on an exciting new service starting in Liverpool.

Purposes of the job:

  • To be project lead for a new service in Liverpool
  • To develop and oversee a home visiting peer support model for families facing challenges living in Liverpool’s most deprived wards
  • To recruit, train and support a team of local peer support volunteers who will help parents feel less isolated and to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health in young children
  • To provide direct support to vulnerable families when required
  • To support peer support volunteers to get involved with oral health promotion events in the community
  • To raise awareness of the project across Liverpool through network events and meetings
  • To work in partnership with CHCP Oral Health service and Family Hubs/Children Centres
  • To complete regular monitoring reports on the progress of the project
  • Reduce health inequalities by delivering effective health promotion re: oral health
  • Raise awareness of poor oral health and ways in which it can be prevented
  • Provide information/education and support on bottles and dummies for healthy teeth that peer support volunteers can share with families & organisations
  • Providing direct support to families with an emphasis on early development, accessing services and empowering parents
  • To build good working relationships with other agencies to ensure the provision of the most effective and appropriate support for families.
