Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre Vacancies

Based in the Princes Park Ward, Liverpool 8, Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre stands at one of the main gateways into the City Centre and is one of the established cultural community centres in the City, it is used by individuals, families and the many diverse communities of Liverpool.

Café Support Worker

Salary: Minimum wage for age

Hours: 35 hours per week

This position is assisting in the café.  The work includes serving light refreshments to the community and staff who utilise the centre daily. Grab your rubber gloves, because the main duties of a Café Support Worker is to ensure the kitchen is spic and span.

The daily tasks will involve:

  • Ensuring good hygiene and health and safety at all times
  • Preparing ingredients for the team
  • Measuring dish ingredients and portion sizes
  • Helping with deliveries of stock
  • Ensure basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible.
  • Collect and wash up cutlery, plates, pots and pans.
  • Clean food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery
  • Unload food and equipment deliveries
  • Keep the storeroom organised
  • Keep work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised.

This vacancy is only open to residents who live in the boundaries of Liverpool City Council, who are aged 16-29 and who are unemployed, not in work, training or education.  You will be asked to prove your eligibility, your unemployment, age and address.

Receptionist

Salary: Minimum wage for age

Hours: 35 hours per week

The Receptionist will need to have an ear to the ground and be aware of everything that’s going in the centre, from knowing which important meetings or training are taking place to co-ordinating deliveries. You will be the first person that employees, members of the community and potential clients see, so you will always representing the charity.

The daily tasks will involve:

  • Meeting and greeting visitors and attendees to the centre
  • Signing visitors in and out of the building
  • Signpost bookings for meetings to Administrator
  • Keeping the reception area tidy
  • Answering and forwarding phone calls
  • Screening phone calls
  • Sorting and distributing post
