LCVS announces the appointment of a new Chief Executive

LCVS is delighted to announce that Jeff Scales will join LCVS as CEO.

Jeff currently works for the national charity, Locality, which supports community organisations. He has worked in both the public and VCSE sectors over the last thirty years.

After re-joining Locality in 2015, he has overseen the transformation of Locality’s services offer, overseeing a transformational shift from a grant-funded team to one that is funded entirely by programme and consultancy income obtained through a combination of relationship building and strategic positioning, tenders, and directly commissioned work. This includes working in partnership with local VCSE support organisations similar to LCVS.

He began his career in the management and development of social housing, with early roles involving supporting Council tenants to take on the management of their own homes. He also managed Sheffield City Council’s portfolio of community buildings including supporting community asset transfers.  Jeff is extremely mission-driven, choosing to work in roles that have a high impact and are underpinned by community empowerment.

He has a strong track record in areas including community asset development and asset transfer, service redesign, organisational governance, business planning, feasibility work, public sector procurement, grant fundraising, social investment & investment readiness, community engagement and consultation, community shares, community-led housing, impact management, and project evaluation.

Sonia Bassey, Chair of LCVS says:

“I would like to thank Alison Hill, Interim CEO, for all her work for the organisation since April and I am very much looking forward to welcoming Jeff to the team.”

Jeff Scales, incoming CEO of LCVS says:

“I am very excited about joining LCVS. I recognise its rich history and importance as a key anchor institution for the city. I have spent a lot of time in Liverpool over the years working with different organisations. There is definitely something distinct and infectious about the place and how this translates into the passion of those leading and working for VCSE organisations based there. I very much appreciate the opportunity and I will repay the faith that the trustees have placed in me by approaching this role with passion and commitment. “
