Many of our local health & wellbeing organisations have made us aware of the fact that they are facing additional pressures, due to an increase in the number of referrals they are receiving from statutory services, and the complex nature of these referrals. This may also be through the process known as “social prescribing” but it is not restricted to this mechanism.
LCVS are starting a piece of work to further explore these pressures and the impact they are having on local organisations and service delivery. We will be beginning this work with a sector-wide survey to gather initial information about the scale of the issues you are facing, as well as identify any organisations who may be interested in having follow-up discussions and/or forming a discussion group.
The aim of this work is to gather evidence which can then be shared with local decision-making/commissioning bodies and put forward recommendations on how to improve referral mechanisms.
