Clare White, CEO of LCVS (Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services) said:
“It’s so difficult to put into words how we feel about this tragic news. Michael was such a vibrant, positive and larger than life person. His tenacity in overcoming his life challenges was inspirational. His thoughtfulness to help others unlimited.
From all of us at LCVS we pass on our sincere condolences to his family and friends. The funds Michael has raised for LCVS will be used to support our work with the voluntary, community and faith sector in Liverpool.
As a business customer of LCVS for over a decade Michael understood the impact of our work and how difficult the fundraising environment is at the moment.
I think he would be really pleased that people have continued to donate to the causes he chose and we are deeply thankful for the donations to date.”
GoFundMe for Michael
Since his passing, a GoFundMe has been set up for the repatriation of Michael from Cape Verde, to his family in the UK. It’s not particularly simple and it’s an expensive operation.
Since he was not insured, the full extent of the costs is not known at this stage, however if there happens to be a surplus, then these funds will be donated to the charities that Michael was supporting.
