LCVS – Trustees

This is a voluntary role.

For over a century, LCVS (Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services) has been working to improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities in Liverpool through supporting and encouraging charitable giving and voluntary action and by bringing people, organisations and resources together.

We provide support, advice, training, networking and representation for the Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector (VCFS) across the Liverpool City Region and we help donors distribute over £4m every year to charitable organisations, both here in the UK and across the world, but with a focus on Liverpool.

The Board is seeking to appoint three enthusiastic, innovative and vocal individuals who will support our future journey.

The Role

The role involves attendance at board meetings, one away day and the AGM per year and sub-committees, plus the preparatory work involved prior to such meetings. There are 4-6 board meetings per year.

The board oversees the running of the organisation and as such is responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s governing document is adhered to and its strategic aims are achieved.

We welcome expressions of interest from people from black or other racial minority communities, disabled people, women and those from any disadvantaged community.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain a broad knowledge of the sector whilst helping you to develop your existing skills. It is an exciting chance for you to specialise in the areas that most interest you, as well as being able to give something back to the wider community.

Appointments of Trustees are made for 3 years after which they may stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.

Why we want you

  • By volunteering as a LCVS Trustee you’ll be helping to support hundreds of local charities and their communities in Liverpool and beyond.
  • By applying your skills and experience you can make a real difference and be central to the future development of the charity. As a Trustee you’ll contribute towards decisions to develop our charity in line with our strategy and policy. You’ll also ensure our compliance with governance regulations.
  • We’re ideally looking for volunteers with experience of CVS sector and specifically in the areas of;, property/estate management, investment management, arts & culture and public sector commissioning. Trustees are also keen to hear from young adults (18-30 years old ) and underrepresented groups.

What we offer

  • An opportunity to develop and exercise strategic management and governance skills in a local charity.
  • Ways for you to ‘give something back’ by applying your professional knowledge, skills and experience in helping us to be more effective.
  • Connection to the wider non-profit sector and its community of supporters.
  • Involvement in creating lasting and measurable change in and with disadvantaged communities.
