Life Story Network CIC Vacancy: Regional Carers Engagement Lead

Salary: £25,000 per annum pro rata
Hours: 21 hours, 3 days per week, to include Friday and 2 flexible days
Contract: Initially until 31 March 2018, with potential to extend

Created by carers for carers, tide – together in dementia every day is a national involvement network for carers and former carers of people with dementia hosted by Life Story Network CIC. A core principle of tide is how we value, respect and support carers and former carers of people living with dementia. Using lived experience, tide enables a diverse range of carers to have a powerful collective voice, which raises awareness of their unique needs and rights, ensuring that these influence practice, policy and research at all levels. The initial phased roll out of tide will cover the Liverpool City and Manchester City Regions and has been funded by the Big Lottery – Accelerating Ideas Programme.

As Regional Carer Engagement Lead for the North West, you will be working closely with other Regional Leads and the Operations Manager to strengthen and increase the impact of tide.

Duties include:

  • Proactively recruiting new carer members, being the first point of contact within the region for carers and former carers
  • Assisting carers to participate in events, helping them with their contribution and presentation, providing carers with the emotional and psychological support before during and after the engagement process (including sending briefing documents, alerting them to the nature of the audience, environment and key themes)
  • Fostering collaborative working relationships with other statutory and voluntary organisations and networks across the region

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a qualification in Health, Social Care or similar would be an advantage, though not essential. You must have experience and/or an understanding of dementia and the emotional and practical challenges that families experience; this may be through experience of caring for someone with dementia.

Although based in our Liverpool office, this role requires travel within the region and occasional national travel with an overnight stay, so a full clean driving licence and access to a car are essential.

With your help we can influence more policy makers, commissioners, and service providers from grass roots to national policy level. This will ensure that the needs of carers of people with dementia are truly recognised and met so that they can care for the person with dementia better and for longer, with increased knowledge and confidence.
