What is the Discretionary Council Tax Relief for Foster Carers?
Currently, foster carers registered with Liverpool City Council and residing in Liverpool receive a 100% discount on their council tax bill. Foster carers registered with Liverpool City Council but residing in other local authority areas receive a payment equivalent to 100% of their annual council tax bill in that area.
This discretionary support for foster carers was introduced as an incentive as part of a wider carer recruitment and retention strategy. This discretionary support costs about £480,000 per year.
