Liverpool City Council | Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme Budget Consultation

Liverpool City Council would like to hear your views on a budget proposal to make changes to the savings options related to the Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme. The council is looking to make savings of £1.1M from this scheme.

What is the Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme?

It is a discretionary Local Welfare Provision Scheme provided by the council.

The scheme provides assistance for Liverpool residents who find themselves in an emergency or crisis. There are two types of award; emergency cash assistance to help residents with food and fuel, and replacement of domestic appliances and furniture to support people to move into a new home or to remain in a home.

What is the Liverpool City Council consulting on?

They are consulting on a saving to reduce the Liverpool Citizens Support Scheme budget allocation by £1.1M per year. This would be achieved by removing or replacing some of the items and services currently available through the scheme.

If these proposals are not taken forward the council may have to find £1.1M savings somewhere else and this may result in some other services being stopped or reduced.
