Mary Seacole House – Independent Mental Health Advocate

Term: Permanent subject to funding.
Hours of employment: 35 hours per week.
Salary: £20,812 – £24,620 per annum.
Location: Based at Mary Seacole House – attending Secure residential units.
Reports to: Advocacy Training and Development Manager.

Mary Seacole House is a mental health charity and resource service based in Toxteth Liverpool. They are a diverse and culturally sensitive organisation seeking to recruit an Independent Mental Health Advocate.

Mary Seacole House will be providing Independent Patient Advocacy Services and Independent Mental Health Advocacy to patients residing at secure sites supporting individuals as necessary and specifically in relation to Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings transition planning, Care & Treatment Reviews (CTR) and for patient/service users who lack capacity and are unable to instruct an advocate (a non-instructed service will be provided to ensure appropriate support). In addition to undertaking the role of an Appropriate / Responsible Adult for patients when required. Ensuring all service users are actively supported in accessing information regarding advocacy services. Advocates will need to be willing to work on Secure residential units.

Are you:

  • Qualified with an Advocacy Qualification and to be able to demonstrate considerable experience and ability in the skills listed above with a minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Willing to work towards relevant qualifications essential towards development in the post
  • Knowledgeable of non-Instructed advocacy
  • Experienced working with individuals with mental health conditions in a paid, voluntary, or personal capacity
  • Comfortable in a social and flexible environment
  • Able to demonstrate a strong track record in maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
