Merseyside Domestic Violence Service (MDVS) – Development Officer

Contract: 16 months – to be extended subject to funding.
Salary: £16 per hour.
Hours per week: 21 hours.
Responsible to: Service Manager.
Location: Liverpool.

For over 20 years Merseyside Domestic Violence Service (MDVS) has been delivering domestic abuse support services in Liverpool and Merseyside. MDVS is a successful local charity with a history of serving the most vulnerable families in Merseyside. It was set up in 2003 to safeguard women, children and young people through education, empowerment and prevention by tackling the root cause of domestic violence.

This is a new role that will enable MDVS to build on past achievements, develop new projects and initiatives and raise their profile and community awareness. The postholder will work with the team on specific projects and campaigns and have overall responsibility for MDVS’s external communications and profile.

The post will be varied and offer real opportunities to develop new skills and be part of a successful local charity. They envisage the successful applicant having experience and skills in some of the following:

  • Social marketing and communication
  • Campaigning
  • Project development and start-up
  • Building networks of supporters.

To be successful in this role, the postholder will need to be committed to MDVS’s innovative vision and values, to be able to work on their own initiative and have an entrepreneurial flair. The postholder will need to have strong leadership skills to take on this role and hit the ground running!
