A Firefighter does much more than putting out fires and rescuing people at road traffic collisions. A large amount of time is spent engaging with the community, educating people and businesses and promoting fire safety. The role of a Firefighter is a career not just a job.

Throughout your career you will have many opportunities to shape your future, potentially progressing up the career ladder to become Watch Manager onto Station Manager, Group Manager, and Area Manager or further. Or you may wish to specialise in a specific area. As well as having the opportunity to gain professional qualifications throughout your career.

The salary for a recruit Firefighter is £22,459 during the 18 week recruit training course, increasing to £29,934 when you become competent.
