The newly formed Merseyside Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) is currently considering bids for early intervention projects tackling violent crime. It has been recognised that the sports sector will play a vital role in implementing interventions to prevent young people from becoming involved in, or a victim of, crime.
The VRU has now appointed Healthy Stadia to commission projects from the sports sector through Home Office funding. All projects will need to start in early December 2019, with all project monies spent by 31st March 2020. Successful projects will also need to send a minimum of two members of staff to a free of charge ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) training course in January 2020.
