Merseyside Youth Association Ltd (MYA) is a people focused organisation. This means they put their children and young people at the centre of everything they do. Alongside this, they are a supportive, adaptable employer, that seeks to listen to its staff team and remain flexible in its approach meeting their needs.

MYA is seeking to appoint one proactive, resilient, and inspiring person to support the delivery of a hospital-based intervention service. The service is aimed at vulnerable 10-25-year-olds who attend Alder Hey, Royal Liverpool, or Aintree Hospitals and are experiencing or are at risk of violence.

The post holder will be part of a small team of case workers working alongside hospital staff to proactively identify vulnerable young people and help them to access and engage the support they need to prevent any potential escalation of violence and reduce the risk of repeat victimisation or exploitation. The post holder will be based within the hospital sites to identify any relevant young people and then offer support to ‘navigate’ their way away from violence, criminal activity, or other harms (whether they are a victim, perpetrator, or both).

The post holder will be embedded into the hospital, coordinating support for those young people admitted to hospital, right through to their discharge back into the community. The successful candidate will have experience of working with ‘high-risk,’ vulnerable young people, be part of a multidisciplinary team, and have a flexible, empathetic approach to the work.

Successful candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification in a related subject, have substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people, and have the ability to operate within principles of contextual safeguarding, trauma-informed, and evidence-based interventions and demonstrate how they will actively maintain professional boundaries.

Candidates do not need previous hospital-based working experience for this role.
