MYA is seeking to appoint two pro-active, resilient, and inspiring people to support the delivery of a hospital-based intervention service which is aimed at vulnerable 10 to 25-year-olds who attend the adult or paediatric emergency departments or Urgent Care Centres in Alder Hey, Royal Liverpool or Aintree Hospitals. The post holder will be part of a small team of case workers working alongside hospital staff to proactively identify vulnerable young people and help them to access and engage the support they need to prevent any potential escalation of violence and reduce the risk of repeat victimisation or exploitation. The post holder will be based within Accident and Emergency (A&E) Departments, co-ordinate the team to support relevant patients to ‘navigate’ their way away from violence, criminal activity or other harms (whether they are a victim, perpetrator, or both).
The post holder will be embedded into the hospital, co-ordinating support for those young people admitted to emergency departments right through to their discharge back into the community. The successful candidate will have experience of working with ‘high risk,’ vulnerable young people, be part of a multidisciplinary team, and have a flexible, empathetic approach to the work.
Successful candidates will hold a Level 3 qualification in a related subject, have substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people and have the ability to operate within principles of contextual safeguarding, trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions and demonstrate how they will actively maintain professional boundaries.
