National Lottery Grants for Heritage Application Support

The National Lottery Heritage Fund wants to encourage community and voluntary organisations to develop their own heritage projects. Exploring heritage can provide opportunities to unlock wider benefits for individuals and communities, particularly as we look for ways to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

National Lottery Grants for Heritage is their open programme for all types of heritage projects in the UK and awards range from £3k – £5 Million. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations.

Organisations can access advice and support from the Heritage Fund’s Engagement Team in the North whatever the level of funding they wish to apply for.

  • Free online session offering a step-by-step guide to what they are looking for in applications are available to all groups looking to apply for a small grant (between £3k – £10k) or a medium grant (between £10k – £250k) – Spaces are available to book here.
  • Applicants looking to apply for a medium grant can also submit a Project Enquiry via their application portal. They will be contacted by an Engagement Manager within 10 days who can offer bespoke advice and guidance. This does not form part of the formal application process.
  • For large grants of between £250k – £5m you are asked to submit an Expression of Interest via their application portal. This is a compulsory competitive step, looking to assess if your project is well thought through, meets one or more of their priority outcomes and responds to need and demand, particularly from a wider range of people.
