New £6M Energy Support Programme launched to help clubs & organisations become more energy-efficient

The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation has launched the Energy Support Programme to help clubs and organisations become more energy-efficient to ensure financial and environmental sustainability.

With the rising costs of energy and an ongoing responsibility to protect our environment, it’s never been more important for clubs and organisations to be environmentally and financially sustainable.

That’s why they’ve launched the Energy Support Programme – to help facilities become more energy efficient to save money and look after the environment. The Programme is broken down into two Funds:

The Energy Fund

The Energy Fund will be targeted at energy-saving measures for clubhouses and pavilions. All eligible football clubs, charities and community organisations operating affiliated football on their sites are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for this Fund. This EOI process will help us better understand the need across the country so we can best support the grassroots football community.

You can apply if you’re:

  • A not-for-profit football club or voluntary group
  • A County FA
  • A Professional Club Community Organisation
  • A registered charity
  • A not-for-profit company
  • A community interest company (CIC) or other social enterprise
  • A company limited by guarantee.

The Foundation will award a grant of 75% of the total project costs of the recommended energy-saving measures, up to a maximum value of £25,000.

Eligible clubs and organisations are invited to complete an EOI via their website (see link below). This form will help establish the support you need to improve your energy efficiency. Those who’re successful will be given further information on next steps in supplying a report from an independent energy-saving consultant.

The deadline to submit an EOI is Thursday 13 April 2023.

For their other fund – the Floodlight Fund, only affiliated football clubs, charities and community organisations that have received funding from the Foundation for floodlit 3G FTPs are eligible for this Fund, they will be invited directly via email to submit an EOI for the Fund. You can find more information about this fund via the link below.
