New Dementia Support for Veterans and Their Families

A new specialist dementia support service for veterans and their families has started in Liverpool. This service is run by Admiral Nurses in partnership with Dementia UK. Services offered by The Royal British Legion include welfare breaks, grants for adaptations and equipment, Handy-Vans and Independent Living Services.

The Royal British Legion Admiral Nurses support beneficiaries living with dementia. A beneficiary is someone who has carried out at least seven days paid military service and includes those who did National Service. The beneficiary may be the person with dementia or their main carer – this is often a family member.

Admiral Nurse Practitioner Leah Rickards is happy to present information about the service and the broader work of The Royal British Legion to any interested parties. Call 0745 808 5496 or email lrickards@britishlegion.org.uk.
