Sahir House have been working with Liverpool City Council on their health needs assessment for LGBTQ+ communities across Liverpool. LGBTQ+ people are known to face health inequalities throughout the life course, affecting both mental and physical health, including access to care.
Currently, there is no local LGBTQ+ needs assessment in place in Liverpool. The objectives of the needs assessment are to investigate the experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ populations in Liverpool, including health and wellbeing, access to services, experiences of engaging with providers, and barriers and facilitators to improving health.
Following an online public survey with responses from over 600 individuals across Liverpool, focus groups were identified to increase engagement with those that were under-represented in initial analysis.
They are particularly interested in understanding how people’s different identities impact their experience of healthcare and general health, so will be hosting the following specific focus groups across June, at Sahir House, 151 Dale Street, Liverpool:
- Friday 7 June 2024 (10 am – 12 pm) LGBTQ+ People living with disabilities (or chronic illness)
- Friday 7 June 2024 (2 – 4 pm) LGBTQ+ People who identify as Neurodivergent
