Positive Futures – Targeted Support Worker

Contract: Fixed Term Until March 2023 with a strong likelihood of extension after this time.
Term: Full-time.
Salary: £26,250.
Hours per week: 35 hours.
Days per week: 5 days.
Reporting to: Operations Manager.
Location: Liverpool.

Positive Futures is a youth development charity supporting young people in North Liverpool. They believe that everyone deserves a chance – and their team, are committed to supporting every young person to achieve their potential. They do this through their open access, targeted support work and personal development interventions which collectively support thousands of young people in Liverpool every year.

Overall Purpose of Role:

To provide support to young people on a wide variety of issues. Working closely with teachers, colleagues, social workers and other agencies to help understand children’s needs and provide a high-quality service in supporting them.

Some duties will include:

  • To plan, deliver and offer support sessions on a one-to-one basis, e.g. using CBT, Art Therapy etc.
  • To provide a range of interventions alongside colleagues which will improve the well-being of young people.
  • To engage and build good working relationships with parents, children and colleagues working in schools and other agencies.
  • To work effectively and cooperatively with partner agencies using common processes including Early Help Assessment, Team Around the Family (TAF) and Lead Professional (LP) roles.
  • To provide relevant information about, and access to appropriate support services and opportunities that enable young people to improve their skills.
  • To work holistically and effectively with parents/carers in ways that will improve their children’s well-being.
  • To work closely with relevant health professionals to support parents/carers in meeting the needs of their children.
  • To undertake home visits as and when required.
  • To promote the safeguarding of children in accordance with the framework for the care and protection of children.
  • To be proactive in providing information on support services to young people.
