Raise and LCA – Money Advice Technical Supervisor (trainee)

This is an exciting development opportunity for an experienced caseworker, ready to work towards a technical supervisor role. It is a trainee role, supported by the GMMAP quality team, leading to a permanent technical supervisor position, subject to future funding.

The focus is sharing your skills and knowledge to coach and support advisors and trainees to meet MaPS quality standards whilst developing your supervisory and leadership skills.

Your role is to support money advice caseworkers and trainees within Raise and Liverpool Community Advice (LCA) to deliver a money advice service within the Greater Merseyside Money Advice Partnership (GMMAP) under the Money and Pensions Service quality standards framework.

You will be involved in managing and achieving the quality requirement of the MaPS contract. In order to achieve this, we need a highly motivated and organised individual who is passionate about money advice and has meticulous attention to detail. You will be experienced in providing specialist money advice and be able to support and develop a team to achieve high standards of quality of advice and share best practice.

Your time will be split between the two agencies.

About us

The Greater Merseyside Money Advice Project (GMMAP) is committed to improving the provision of free, confidential, impartial high quality debt advice in Greater Merseyside.

Set up in 2006 the GMMAP project is now funded by The Money Advice Service – an independent service set up by government to help anyone and everyone make the most of their money.

Knowsley Citizens Advice is the lead organisation in the GMMAP project and as such manages a network of 12 Participants and 37 debt advisors that are experienced in providing advice and assistance to individuals who are over indebted including anyone being in crisis debt. The demand for money advice is growing and the project aims to increase the provision of debt advice, particularly in areas of high financial exclusion across Merseyside and parts of Cheshire. Providing more ways for people to access advice such as face to face, telephone, video call and email is now also making it easier for people to make the first contact with advice services.

Established in 1999, Raise is an advice service that supports clients within their own home with welfare benefits, debt and financial capability advice at a specialist level. Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accredited.Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are currently only offering telephone advice.

Our Money Advice team comprises of 3 caseworkers and an advice assistant, delivering 1200 advice sessions per year. We are based in Scotland Road, close to the city centre and currently have 22 employees. We have a flexible working policy, home working, and 24-hour access to the office.

LCA provides free, independent and confidential advice to approximately 14,000 clients per year. We hold both the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM). We hold a 2018 Face-to-Face Civil Contract for Housing Advice the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme at Liverpool County Court. We act as agents for Shelter at Wigan, St Helens and Birkenhead County Court. We deliver our Face-to-Face contract to 600 clients per year across the Liverpool City Region.

We provide a specialist welfare rights service up to and including representation at First-tier Tribunal.
