Sahir House – Counsellor

Sahir House has been offering HIV support, information and training across Merseyside since 1985. It offers a wide range of services to people living with or affected by HIV; HIV related training; up to date HIV information; prevention and testing; and opportunities to volunteer.

We are looking for a new counsellor to join the team as we grow our support offer and develop new services. Sahir House has been recognised as one of the best small health charities in the country and we have recently expanded our charitable objects to reflect our experience in engaging with and supporting not just people living with HIV, but also LGBT+ people and those seeking asylum.

Counsellor – one full-time post or two part-time posts, starting salary £24,491

We are recruiting a suitably qualified and experienced counsellor, who has worked in an organisational setting (not just their own practice), who can demonstrate:

  • Skills in supporting people with complex needs, who may have experienced trauma
  • Experience of delivering counselling services in a busy service user organisation
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team
  • Knowledge of how to evidence the impact and outcomes of counselling
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding processes
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, equity and social justice
