Sahir House Vacancies: Chair and Trustees

Sahir House is seeking to recruit a Chair and up to two other trustees to join the board, which currently has eight members, including a Vice Chair and a Treasurer.

Sahir House is a multi-award-winning charity, which provides support for people living with (or affected by) HIV and also delivers a range of sexual health promotion, training and information services to professionals and the wider public. The charity has recently won several major contracts and is looking for forward thinking board members to drive our next stage of development.

Chair
In addition to their roles as a general trustee, the chair will provide leadership and work with the rest of the board, and executive team, to set vision and strategy for the charity. The Chair will also drive the performance of the whole board and ensure the charity’s values are upheld.

Other Trustees
Trustees will work with the rest of the board, and executive team, to set vision and strategy for the charity. They will provide governance oversight of the strategy, ensuring the charity’s resources are expended in an inclusive, efficient manner in furtherance of the charity’s aims.

The ideal candidates are committed to the values of the charity, who are fair but tactful communicators, have the confidence to set and achieve high level goals and who can exercise fairness and good judgement.

Board members are unremunerated, although out of pocket expenses will be paid by the charity. Sahir House also invests in the personal development of board members ensuring their skills base increases according to the changing demands of the role.

All appointments are subject to satisfactory references.

Closing date for applications: Monday 20 March 2017, 5pm

Short listing: Tuesday 21 March. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to make an informal visit later that week (optional).
