Sanctuary Family Support – Health & Wellbeing Advisor

Salary: £10.400 per annum.
Hours: Part Time / 16 Hours worked over  – Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri.
Responsible to: Chair of the Management Committee.

Job Purpose

To support family members to take proactive steps to improve the management of their physical & mental health.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To manage a caseload of family members affected by substance misuse based on weekly/fortnightly contacts; empowering them to make healthier life choices; developing care plans and connecting people to activities and services that meet practical, social and emotional needs that affect their health & wellbeing
  • To deliver a series of workshops including Health & Wellbeing, Stigma and Drug Awareness
  • To ensure that the services provided are planned, reviewed and evaluated in conjunction with the service users and are of the highest quality and meet the standards of Sanctuary Family Support
  • To work in partnership with families and other agencies
  • To be aware of and comply with all Sanctuary Family Support’s policies and procedures
  • To be aware of and comply with any training, meetings etc. as required by the Chair of the Management Committee or your line manager
  • To maintain accurate up-to-date records, and ensure records are kept securely
  • To report as required to the identified line manager regarding your job performance
  • To be computer literate and able to record your own case notes and statistics
  • To contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the reputation of Sanctuary Family support
  • An understanding of and a personal commitment to the Ethos and Values of Sanctuary Family Support
  • An effective use of appropriate Microsoft Applications.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • An understanding of the issues facing drug users and their families
  • Good word-processing/keyboard skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organisational skills
  • Commitment to Personal Development
  • Good time-management skills
  • Tact and sensitivity
  • Ability to relate well to a wide range of people
  • Good telephone manner
  • Flexibility
  • Commitment to equal opportunity
  • Commitment to client confidentiality
  • The ability to maintain expert knowledge of local services and provision
  • Qualification in Health & Social Care or a relevant Care qualification.

Desirable Requirements

  • Own transport
  • Experience working with families.
