Are you looking to get more involved with your local community? Do you enjoy networking and working with diverse groups of people? Are you passionate about issues affecting local communities?
Savera UK works with Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities to challenge attitudes towards domestic abuse and harmful practices such as forced marriage, ‘honour’ based abuse and female genital mutilation.
Savera means ‘new beginning or change’ in Hindi, which is how the charity views itself: operating within the BME community by helping and supporting people build a new life after they leave their abusive home or family. The charity is intent upon supporting individuals to stabilise themselves once they have left their abusive environment.
Perhaps you’d just like to get involved in our events and help raise awareness of Savera UK’s work? Or maybe you’ve got experience in these issues and would like develop it? Or possibly you’re a specialist professional that would like to work alongside us in supporting our clients? Giving your time would mean a lot to Savera UK and the charity would work with you to make sure you would get the most out of your volunteering experience.
