Shewsy Records to release two songs to raise money for inner city youth club

Shrewsbury House in Everton- known locally as The Shewsy – is attempting to raise £100,000 in one week by taking part in the BigGive Christmas Challenge this December. The Challenge takes place from noon on Tuesday 3 December to noon Tuesday 10 December 2024.

Supporters can donate through The BigGive Christmas Challenge website, to choose Shrewsbury House, and click on the ‘Donate Now’ button, or via the Shrewsbury House website BigGive donate now link.

Shewsy All Stars are children (aged 5 – 12 years) from the Afterschool and Intermediate Clubs who got together to perform and record the songs. The two records are being released by Shewsy Records, a group of young people who use the Joseph Lappin Music Suite at the Youth Club. The songs will be available to download from 16 November 2024 onwards through iTunes, Apple, Spotify and other sites. Every penny generated from downloads through all channels will be match funded – giving you the opportunity to double the difference.

For those streaming the songs they ask that you please make a donation through the link on the Shrewsbury House website or via the BigGive Christmas Challenge website during the Challenge Week from 3 – 10 December this year.

Shrewsbury House is appealing to the public to support their efforts to generate £50,000 in online donations – every penny of which will be match funded from two pledges of match funding of £50,000; part from a regular donor and part from the Steve Morgan Foundation.

At The Shewsy they provide an Afterschool, an Intermediate Club and a Senior Youth Club. Their current membership since September this year is over 250 individuals with an average of 45 children/young people attending each session. Last year their membership cohort reached 450 young people in total.

Provision of quality staffing in all clubs is one of their highest priorities, as is staff training for all staff and volunteers. All funds generated are being used for the day to day running costs to ensure the sustainability of Shrewsbury House in Everton, the longest serving youth club in Liverpool. Shrewsbury House celebrated its 120^th anniversary in June 2023
