The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation

Deadline: Unknown. Currently open.

The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation (AGCF) was funded by Albert Gubay in 2016, when he bequeathed the property empire that he had built up over his lifetime so that its income could be used for charitable purposes.

Since it received its assets in 2016, AGCF has awarded 457 grants totalling over £42.5million to registered charities in England, the Isle of Man, Republic of Ireland and Wales with donations ranging from £5,000 up to £2.25million helping to benefit those most in need.

In April 2021, the charity was transferred to England, where the majority of the property that creates the funds to be distributed as grants is based.

They split their large fund between specifically Catholic organisations, and these have to be made through the local Diocese, and grants for other charities.

They are able to do small to large grants.

Current funding priorities include:

  • Amateur sport.
  • Care leavers.
  • Residential care for elderly people.
  • Ex-offenders and their families.
  • Homelessness.
  • Medical research where the charity is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC).
  • People recovering from drug and substance misuse.
  • People with intellectual disability.
  • People with terminal illnesses / life limiting conditions and their carers.
  • Worship and associated community outreach.
  • Victims of domestic abuse.
  • Victims of modern slavery.
