The Congolese Association of Merseyside wants to take football fans to the African Nations Cup UK in London

The Congolese Association of Merseyside is taking young people who are football fans (15 – 18 years olds) from our communities in the Liverpool City Region to London to take part in a football competition (African Nations Cup UK) which brings many communities from different backgrounds together. The event will take place from 26 to 27 August 2023.

They are therefore seeking support from our local authorities, organisations and communities to support them with transport, necessary resources (finance, flags, posters) of any kind, to encourage the young people and make this event the most successful.

If you would like to join them on this trip, please contact them on 0151 345 6913 or email congomerseyside@yahoo.fr.

What is the African Nations Cup UK?

The African Nations Cup UK, usually referred to simply as the UK African Cup, is a football competition contested by the youth and men’s open age national teams from different members of United Kingdom African communities. It’s the first of a kind to take place in Europe and the championship is awarded every year.

The current format of the tournament involved 16 teams: Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Gambia, Mauritius, Morocco, Algeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Cameroon, DR Congo, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Senegal.

This event attracts from football fans from all over the country, local health and advocacy bodies to scouts from professional sports bodies and clubs to spot potential footballers for greener pastures.
