The Life Rooms VCSE Micro-Commissioning Programme

Public Health Liverpool and The Life Rooms at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust have developed a pilot for a community based mental health prevention offer which will support individuals and communities post the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pilot will offer help and support for people of all ages and will be family orientated. It has been funded and shaped in partnership with Liverpool City Council Public Health Department using fixed term funds allocated to the City to help manage the impacts of the Pandemic.  The pilot will be evaluated, and the findings will help inform future strategic, commissioning intentions.

As part of this pilot there will be a £700,000 Micro-Commissioning Programme aimed at supporting and improving the health and wellbeing of Liverpool residents by commissioning activity from mid to large sized VCSE organisations in order to address the health needs of their communities. The commissioned activity should focus on the following five priority areas:

  1. Parental mental health/wellbeing and resilience of families with children
  2. Social isolation/improved relationships (older adults and other vulnerable groups)
  3. Employability linked to direct pandemic impacts (e.g. furlough, business closures, health impacts preventing work)
  4. Physical activity to enhance mental health
  5. Marginalised groups – Refugee and Asylum Seeker health.

Funding will be in the form of a direct award which will be granted in one overall amount at the start of each project. It is anticipated that funding parameters will be in the range of between £50k and £100k per project and up to 14 projects are likely to be commissioned.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) for this fund is now live on the Life Rooms website and the deadline for applications is Monday 31 January at 5 pm.

You are invited to attend a Q&A webinar to find out more about this opportunity. It will take place on Friday 14 January 2 pm to 3 pm. In order to register your attendance please email: LiferoomsCommission@merseycare.nhs.uk.
