Job Description
The Reader is looking for a new Business Development Manager with experience of nurturing relationships, launching new products and generating income from corporate markets as they enter a new, exciting phase of their three-year business plan. You will join a small, high performing team and will work in close collaboration across all departments and levels of the organisation.
As an inclusive employer, they use their values to ensure The Reader is a thoughtful, supportive, creative work environment. All employees at The Reader benefit from:
- Flexible working options including home working or varied hours where required
- Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days p/a plus bank holidays
- Regular opportunity to participate in Shared Reading, connecting with their core work and experiencing the personal benefits it brings
- Access to personal development, including their flagship ‘Read to Lead’ training programme.
They believe literature’s unique power has the potential to connect us, to help us feel better and to rebuild lost social bonds. Their vision is for one humanity in which everyone has an opportunity to thrive. From their Shared Reading movement in prisons, schools and community spaces across the UK and beyond, to their programme of arts, heritage and wellbeing activity at their Calderstones Park home – The Reader builds lively communities that bring people together and books to life.
As Business Development Manager with responsibility for generating income from corporate markets – be they large-scale employers to private health-care providers, in the UK and internationally – you will play a pivotal role in working with teams to sell their ideas, shape them into compelling proposals, whilst managing a range of relationships with their fantastic family of funders and partners. Working alongside the Head of Development, the Director of Development and Partnerships and the wider Director’s Group, you will also contribute to future planning as they enter their next strategy period.
