The Reader Organisation – IT Support Assistant

Contract: Permanent.
Term: Full-time.
Salary: £19,688 (pro rata).
Hours per week: 35 hours.
Days per week: Usually Monday – Friday with regular out-of-hours maintenance work and occasional weekend working at their Calderstones Site, which is a 7 day working environment.
Reporting to: IT Technician.
Location: The Reader, Mansion House, Calderstones Park, Liverpool L18 3JB.

The IT Systems Assistant will support the day-to-day setup and maintenance of their IT systems and devices. You will support the IT requirements of staff and other stakeholders, including their commercial and events functions on-site, and will help your colleagues get the most out of the IT systems and services that they provide. Alongside the wider team, you will be on hand to resolve and restore services as quickly as possible when issues arise. All of this must be done in a secure and controlled way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both remote and onsite support for staff and other site users
  • Provide first-line Helpdesk support
  • Undertake hardware set-up and maintenance, including desktops, laptops, printers/photocopiers, video-conferencing, mobiles and landline telephony
  • Support the IT team to undertake user account management, including the creation and amendment of user accounts, setting up files and folders and amending permissions and the creation and maintenance of email distribution groups
  • Investigate and troubleshoot software, hardware, security and network issues
  • Ensure network, hardware & software security is maintained at all times, and raise to the Head of IT or another member of the Management team any seen/known breaches
  • Install and upgrade antivirus, operating system, network and firewall software
  • Support IT equipment for room bookings, remote meetings and other IT facilities
  • Develop new skills and build your system and network support and maintenance expertise
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all internal customers, including key stakeholders in IT leadership and other key stakeholders
  • Deliver approachable, quick and effective customer service, building rapport and trust with all users
  • Contribute to team planning sessions, suggesting approaches and raising points for consideration.
