The Reader Organisation Vacancy: Finance Manager/ Financial Controller

Salary: £25k – £35k

Hours: 35 hours per week (part time would be considered and flexible working patterns are available)

Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Manager to join The Reader Organisation (TRO). TRO is looking for a special person who wants to put their financial expertise to use in an organisation that works hard to make a difference to people’s lives.

The Reader is a fast-growing social enterprise with a national and international remit that develops innovative shared reading-aloud groups in diverse communities across society.  Head office is in Liverpool but there are teams in London, the North East, the South West, Wales, as well as a national prisons project in 6 locations, and franchises are developed in Belgium and Denmark. TRO is also about to embark on an exciting project to refurbish Calderstones Mansion House and re-house the Calder Stones.

This is an exciting opportunity for a practically minded individual with a flair for co-ordination, management and maintaining standards.  You will have held a similar role in the commercial, social enterprise or charitable sector or be able to demonstrate how previous experience translates to this new role. You will need to be flexible and willing to work as a whole team to solve the problems encountered as the organisation grows. You may not have experience of all the elements of this role, but you’ll be able to demonstrate your adaptability and willingness to learn.  You will value the opportunity to make the role your own and to bring your own leadership to this energetic and challenging area of work.

To apply, visit www.thereader.org.uk and select the ‘Working with Us’ tab where you will be able to view the full job description and download an application form. Complete the application form and submit a covering letter, explaining how you meet the requirements of this role, to Eameeboden@thereader.org.uk. Your covering letter is an opportunity for you to include any additional information which could not be explained within the application form. Please do not just send in a CV.

Deadline for applications: 12noon on Wednesday 7 December 2016. Applications arriving after 12noon will not be considered.

You will be notified if you are to be called for interview by Monday 12 December 2016. If you have not heard by then, you have been unsuccessful. Volume of applications may make replies to everyone impossible.

Interviews will take place on Friday 16 December 2016 at Calderstones Mansion House, L18 3JB.  Please note you may be required to deliver a presentation or complete a task at the interview.  If this is the case you will be informed of this when you are invited to interview.

Role begins: As soon as possible thereafter.
