The Reader Organisation Vacancy: Ice Cream Parlour Assistant

Salary: £6.70 – £7.20 per hour

Hours: Zero-hour contract

This individual will be working at The Reader Organisation’s Ice Cream Parlour at Calderstones Mansion House. They will work in a team developing and delivering a range of profitable catering offers that work in harmony with The Reader’s ethos and vision.

The Parlour is open seven days a week, offering 22 varieties of Cheshire Farm Ice Cream.  Plus other catering options like teas, coffees and soft drinks.  It will also be where members of the general public can purchase their entry tickets to the Storybarn, and buy children’s books from the bookshop.  It will be the individual’s responsibility to work as part of the team delivering this offer and ensuring that high levels of customer service are maintained. You are a responsible individual who can use your initiative and are comfortable in a high pressured working environment.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Presenting and handling ice cream to a high standard
  • Using a till to sell ice cream, various catering options plus entry tickets to the Storybarn
  • Dealing with customers and ensuring high standards of customer service
  • Maintaining the reputation of the charity in your dealings with the public
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene
  • Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere
  • Maintaining stock levels whilst on shift
