Head of Calderstones Programmes

Salary: £27,000 to £35,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week across 5 days – Monday to Sunday. Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

The Reader is looking for a visionary leader to be the new Head of Calderstones Programmes. This is a key role for The Reader as it brings the International Centre for Shared Reading in South Liverpool to life after a £5m refurbishment. At Calderstones, The Reader is are building a new model of community around shared reading. Calderstones will be a leading Liverpool cultural and community health player, as well as a national and international visitor destination.

Great literature is at The Reader’s heart, so you must be a reader. You will enjoy working in a very fast-paced creative environment, driven by the need to bring about a reading revolution and passionate about the need to keep literature alive in a digital world.

You will have vision and heart, caring for the local and the individual, as well as seeing and understanding the importance of the big picture. Chef Coordinator

Salary: £17,000-£22,000 (Band 2)
Hours: 35 hours per week, across 5 days on a rota basis, spanning 8am-6pm hours, Monday to Sunday
Contract: Permanent

The Reader is looking to recruit a dedicated, creative, catering professional to be responsible for developing and ensuring great delivery of The Reader’s hospitality offer.

The current provision consists of a well-established and popular café, in temporary accommodation, and separate Ice Cream Parlour. The remodeled Reader Café inside Calderstones Mansion House will open in a year and you will be involved in the creative vision for the new café, as well as the planning and development that will be bring it about.

You are a professional with creative flair, a passion for food and good service, who will make the catering work your own. In the first instance, it is expected you will have responsibility for the overall daily operation of the café’s kitchen and catering processes, ensure the smooth working of a range of profitable catering offers whilst being mindful of industry cost margins. You will need the practical skills to execute an interesting but simple menu, working alongside the Catering Manager contributing to the development of innovative seasonal menus.

The person in this role oversees all aspects of catering health and safety compliance, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, food quality and risk management are achieved and that these standards are maintained through constant monitoring.

Weekend Cleaner

Salary: £7.83 per hour
Hours: 4 hours per weekend, 2-4pm
Duration: Six-months fixed-term in the first instance

This is a new opportunity for a flexible, committed individual with a proven track record to maintain high levels of cleanliness within a complex site in Calderstones Park.

As the onsite weekend cleaner, you will be responsible for ensuring that the communal and public areas of the site are hygienic, attractive and safe. These areas include kitchens, toilets, event rooms, play spaces, offices, meeting rooms and a variety of other spaces that make up a collection of grade II listed buildings now in modern use.

You will ensure health and safety standards and procedures are adhered to, use cleaning materials appropriately and economically and maintain cleaning records as required.

Catering Supervisor

Salary: £8-£8.33 per hour
Hours: Minimum 12 hours per week on a rota basis, spanning 8am-6pm hours, Monday to Sunday
Duration: Fixed-term to 30 September 2018

This role will work across the catering provision of The Reader Group Enterprises, in the café, ice cream parlour and events. You will work in a team developing and delivering a range of profitable catering offers that work in harmony with The Reader Group’s ethos and vision and consistently delivers a high level of customer service.

The café and ice cream parlour are open seven days a week and provide a quality and affordable offer for the local community in welcoming environments. You a hard-working, honest and experienced individual who is comfortable supervising others.
