The Whitechapel Centre – Assertive Rehousing Worker

Term: Full Time.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: National Joint Council (NJC) SCP 11 – 22 (£21,748 – £27,041).
Location: Knowsley.

The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic and tailored support. This is so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential.

In partnership with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, they are looking to recruit an exceptional intensive support worker who can meet the housing and support needs of people who are rough sleeping or those who are at risk of it. This includes people staying in the Council’s emergency accommodation services.

With a good working knowledge of Housing and Welfare Rights, you will have at least 2 years of experience of working in a homelessness, housing or support setting. As well as working with hostels, Registered Providers and negotiating with private landlords in order to deliver appropriate support and rapid rehousing solutions.

You will have experience in discharging creative and innovative resettlement/support plans. As well as an ability to provide first-class advice and support to people about benefits maximisation, substance misuse problems, domestic abuse, care and mental health services, utilising a case conference approach to manage clients’ needs/risk. You will be highly motivated and confident and comfortable using your own initiative to make informed and effective decisions.
