Post: Intensive Support Worker (Halton)
Grade: National Joint Council (NJC) SCP 11-22 (£21,166 – £26,317)
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic, tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential.
We have been awarded funding from Halton Borough Council to deliver a new Intensive Support Service for people with multiple and complex needs. The aims of the service are to engage with clients over the long term and through their journey from crisis and into care, treatment and support enabling them to achieve better and more sustainable personal outcomes including better housing, health and well-being and a reduction in offending behaviour.
We are looking for an exceptional Intensive Support Worker with a good working knowledge of Housing and Welfare Rights, at least 2 years’ experience of working in a homelessness, housing or support setting, discharging creative and innovative resettlement / support plans, and providing first class advice and support to people about benefits maximisation, substance misuse problems, domestic abuse, care and mental health services.
Highly motivated, tenacious and confident, you will be comfortable using your own initiative to provide initial crisis intervention and to make informed and effective decisions when representing your clients best interests within key mainstream and specialist housing, welfare benefits, health and social care services.
Applicants are expected to offer some flexibility to work at weekends and during the early mornings and late evenings by arrangement. Funding for this post is for one year in the first instance.
