tide (Together in Dementia Everyday) – tide Development Officer (Dementia Dekh Bhaal Scotland Project)

Days per week: 3/5.
Reporting to: Head of tide Service Delivery.
Location: The post-holder will work remotely, with visits to the tide Head office at 151 Dale Street Liverpool, L2 2AH when required and circumstances allow. They may also need to travel more widely across Scotland and the UK.

tide – together in dementia every day is the UK wide involvement network for carers and former carers of people living with dementia. The overall aim of the tide carer network is to improve their experiences as unpaid carers as well as the services available to those they care for.

The tide Development Officer (Dementia Dekh Bhaal Scotland) will focus on developing a network of South Asian Carers of people with dementia in Scotland. The post holder will be required to work flexibly and with the ability to support the expansion and development of the overall tide carer network.

As well as responsibility for Dementia Dekh Bhaal Scotland, the Development Officer will also support the core activities of tide where appropriate or needed including connecting carers, facilitating core activity sessions and engaging with the professionals on our network including delivering introduction to tide and training sessions in addition to organising opportunities to connect and work together.

The post holder will contribute to the design, development and processes of data collection and dissemination in line with our outcomes and any evaluation process.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, facilitate and monitor the progress of the Dementia Dekh Bhaal Scotland project ensuring all stipulated outcomes are achieved
  • Identify opportunities for current and former carers to participate fully in the specialist work, using their lived experiences to shape the outputs and outcomes stipulated as part of the project
  • Complete any required evaluation commitments of the specialist work/project and feed that into the overall impact and evaluation processes of the organisation
  • Contribute to the delivery of core activities for carers on the network including; Coffee Mornings or Meet Ups, Themed Groups, Carer Development Programme (CDP) and Web-based learning and education events such as Webinars as required
  • Provide current and former carers with support before and during activities and events connected to the specialist work/project, including preparation for the activity/event and feedback on their impact
  • Signpost current and former carers to any local or national resources, which may assist them when they highlight any issues or concerns regarding their day to day or previous caring role;
  • Report any concerns regarding the potential vulnerability of current/former carers and people living with dementia to the Head of Tide Development in line with the organisation’s Safeguarding and Protection of Adults Police
  • Prepare reports and update for SMT and Board as required (occasional attendance at SMT/Board meetings to present on achievements and progress)
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our Carer Participation Process with the Products and Services Team to ensure carers stories and experiences can be included in our core and commercial work, our marketing and promotion and our fundraising and sustainability
  • Engaging with carers from the network through our Facebook and Twitter platforms and establishing new ways to connect involve them in the specialist work/project
  • Contribute to and support the participation of carers in fundraising and sustainability opportunities for the organisation.
