18th September 2019, 11am – 1pm
Plaza Cinema, Liverpool, L22 0LD
You are invited to attend a Cinema, Memory and Wellbeing training session hosted by the Plaza Cinema in Crosby, Merseyside, and run by Professor Lisa Shaw from the University of Liverpool. This session is aimed at anyone who is involved in caring for older people, including those living with dementia, ranging from nursing home and sheltered accommodation staff and occupational therapists, to both professional and family carers.
Lisa will present and distribute free of charge the ‘Cinema, Memory and Wellbeing’ toolkit that she has developed over the last four years, based on pilot projects carried out by the University of Liverpool with local nursing homes and day care centres, as well as a nursing home that provides specialist dementia care in Brazil. The toolkit aims to help care providers make the best use of films to stimulate reminiscence and emotional wellbeing benefits among older people, and it is accompanied by a disc of archival film footage of Liverpool and Manchester.
The event is free but availability is limited so a refundable deposit of £10 per participant is payable upon booking.
