Compass is offering a FREE 6 week course funded by Liverpool City Council, for organisations/volunteers based in Liverpool.
The course aims to:
- Bring those involved in helping and supporting people seeking asylum; refugees and vulnerable migrants
- Identify ways of helping and supporting this client group
- Share knowledge and expertise
- Develop understanding of working with this client group.
Course Content includes
- Boundaries in a supporting role
- Confidentiality and limits
- Helping a client talk about their concerns
- Active listening
- Assumptions and judgements
- Empathy
- Cultural differences
- Signposting and referrals
- Working with interpreters
- Risk management
- Self-care.
