More training dates will be added throughout the year, please contact Emma Ross to be added to the Contact List for further training dates.

What you will learn

This training will help you to gain a greater awareness of what is meant by parental conflict and why this all matters. You’ll explore the co-parenting relationship in more detail, why constructive conflict is okay and the signs that a relationship may be in distress.

Time is spent discussing the significant impact that a poor-quality co-parent relationship can have on child outcomes. You’ll develop an understanding of what the evidence base tells us and skills to recognise and identify the impact on children.

Their colleagues will be delivering training sessions throughout 2022, they have spaces available for the next training session which is being delivered in September.

If you would like to attend this training, please contact Emma Ross (Emma.Ross@liverpool.gov.uk) to book your place on the training programme.

About this training programme

Reducing Parental Conflict Programme was developed by DWP and they ran pilot sessions from 2015-2017 and from April 2017 the trial informed the development of RPC as part of the Improving Lives: Helping Workless Families.

In May 2019 Liverpool attended the DWP Led Train the Trainer model of Reducing Parental Conflict with a small number of staff within Children’s Services. Following the training, DWP and their providers (Knowledgepool and Capita) provided LCC with training resources to enable the rollout of the training in-house at LCC. Liverpool purchased an E-Learning bundle from DWP that they will use as an awareness tool for all LCC staff and partners that work with Children and Families, who want to know more about RPC.

Liverpool held discussions with other Local Authorities to discuss how they have taken this programme forward and joined a cluster bid with Wirral and other LA’s (Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, Cheshire East) the Bid was successful. Liverpool now has a team of professionals who are trained to deliver the RPC programme across the city. Liverpool has been successful in another bid for two years (2022-2024) and will be looking to deliver more sessions across Liverpool.
