Monday & Tuesday afternoons | September to December 2021 | Online & in-person
Sound Ideas To Share is a new project that is open to people aged 19+ living in the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral, Halton, Knowsley and St. Helens). It is for people whose lives have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and for those who have a passion to learn more about and work within the fields of media, arts and culture.
It is an ESF funded project from Our Time (Richmond Fellowship), in partnership with Timebanking UK, BBC Radio Merseyside and Creative Lives. It aims to recruit and help those whose lives have been significantly affected by the pandemic. Priority will be given to applications from people who are unemployed, on a low income, those from ethnically diverse communities and older people.
The project media training will be delivered by Ngunan Adamu of BBC Radio Merseyside and BBC International. Ngunan is an experienced producer, presenter and journalist and CEO of iWoman Media. Ngunan currently presents Upfront, a magazine radio show designed for Merseyside’s black community on BBC Radio Merseyside.
The project will equip participants with the knowledge and technical skills that will establish or improve their knowledge of audio media production and promotion plus benefit their mental wellbeing.
The training programme will cover:
- Media skills
- Podcast production and editing
- Promoting and marketing your podcast
- Digital storytelling
- The mental health benefits of time banking
- Assertiveness and confidence building
- How to rebuild from the life impact of COVID-19
- Inspiration for the motivation and mindset to achieve your goals
- Practical advice on gaining employment in the fields of media, arts and culture in relation to The Equality Act 2010.
Training and podcast production will run from September to December 2021, it will require attendance at online sessions on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. A small number of face to face sessions will take place, however, these will be conducted with careful consideration for social distancing and infection prevention. This is to promote the safety of all involved and online attendance as an alternative will be offered.
