“What Does That Clause Mean?” Demystifying Your Constitution - Postponed.
These are all questions we get asked regularly, and the answers are usually found in your organisation’s governing document. It’s the most important document relating to your organisation - forming a legal contract that defines your relationship with the world, including service users and funders. It also regulates how those involved in an organisation act in relation to each other. A well-drafted governing document can help you operate smoothly, hold effective meetings, avoid disputes, and make sure that only suitable people get involved.
A badly drafted governing document on the other hand can lead to expensive and time-consuming problems.
This course will provide delegates with:
• An understanding of what should and should not be included in a governing document
• An understanding of the implications for wording clauses in particular ways
• The knowledge of how to change a governing document legally and effectively
• The opportunity to ask questions relating to their own governing documents, and to think about making changes to suit current requirements
This course is perfect for both new and experienced trustees and staff and those thinking about adopting/changing their governing document.
