UK Youth announces £2million Covid relief fund for youth organisations

Youth organisations across England are invited to apply to the £2 million UK Youth Fund – Covid Relief by completing a short questionnaire. The funder hopes all youth organisations will respond, telling them about the impact that Covid-19 has had on service providers and the young people they support.

Throughout the pandemic, UK Youth has been working hard to unlock additional funding and has been met with the same questions each time:

  • What funding has been lost?
  • What is the impact on youth provision across England?
  • What are the barriers and opportunities facing organisations?
  • How many organisations are at risk of closure?
  • What are the priorities for supporting young people now and in the future as we recover?

They need more robust answers to these questions. That’s why they are now asking EVERY youth organisation in England to complete this questionnaire. It won’t take long and the information you provide will help to unlock more funding for your work.

UK Youth has secured £2 million to support small youth organisations who have not had access to the crisis funding they require to survive the Covid pandemic. The UK Youth Fund – Covid Relief is funded through the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) Community Match Challenge scheme, with funding from DCMS, Pears Foundation and Paul Hamlyn Foundation as part of the Government’s £750m charities package.

Organisations that are based in, and deliver work in, England with a turnover of less than £250,000, are eligible to apply for grants of up to £50,000. The grants are available to organisations that have lost funding, face the threat of closure, or had to reduce delivery or services supporting young people, and will directly support young people. Awarded organisations can use the funds to cover staff salaries, project running costs, organisational development and goods and equipment which support delivery.

If you are eligible for the funding, please complete the questionnaire. Your responses will be used as your application for funding.

UK Youth is particularly keen to hear from organisations that support young people who are most affected by systemic oppression and discrimination. This includes Black, Asian and other groups who experience racism, deaf/disabled people and those who identify as sitting at the intersections of several minoritized identities, those who identify as LGBT+, as well as those who have not had financial support growing up.

Even if you are not eligible for this funding please still complete the questionnaire. The information you provide will be invaluable and will enable us to secure additional income streams to support your work.

Complete the UK Youth questionnaire.

If you are eligible, your answers will form your application.

Organisations have until midday on the 25 November to complete the questionnaire.
