Vauxhall Community Law & Information Centre – Welfare Rights and Advice Caseworker

Contract: The post is initially until 9 January 2024, additional future funding is being sought.
Term: Part-Time.
Salary: LA Payscale 5/6 £22,183 – £26,511 p.a. +5% Pension Contribution.
Hours per week: 18 hours.
Reporting to: Senior Solicitor.
Location: Maghull Hub in Maghull Town Square and some office based working at Vauxhall Law Centre.

Vauxhall Community Law and Information Centre provides access to justice on a range of social welfare issues. Established in 1973, they support sick and disabled people, those affected by the cut to Universal Credit including people working in the gig economy and on a zero hours contract. They are an inclusive and non-discriminatory organisation. They work with and advocate for members of the community that face injustice, irrespective of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, disability or immigration status. They take a strong stance against all forms of bigotry and work to challenge prejudice and injustice wherever they find it.

Job Description

To assist in providing an efficient and effective advice service providing support, practical advice and signposting when appropriate in relation to welfare benefits, disability and housing. You will work as part of a team to ensure that their clients are receiving the best support available to help them. You will be required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations but mainly from the Maghull Hub at Maghull Town Square, home visits and working with partners such as Maghull Town Council (who fund this post), NHS and community groups.
