Vauxhall Community Law & Information Centre – Welfare Rights and Advice Caseworker (For Terminally Ill People)

Contract: The post is initially until 03/06/2024, additional future funding is being sought.
Term: Full Time, Part-time and Job Shares will be considered.
Salary: £22,183 – £29,439 p.a. +5% Pension.
Hours per week: 35 hours.
Days per week: 5 days.
Reporting to: Senior Solicitor.
Location: Vauxhall, Liverpool.

Vauxhall Community Law and Information Centre has been providing free independent, expert legal advice in the community since 1973. They  provide access to justice to our community on a range of social welfare issues, they offer welfare benefit, debt and housing advice as well as a bereavement advice service.

They are based locally in Vauxhall, Liverpool and provide advice across the Liverpool City Region. They are a small community-based law centre.

Job Description

To assist in providing an efficient and effective advice service, you will provide support and practical advice on welfare benefits, housing and debt, particularly, but not exclusively, for people who are terminally ill. You will work as part of a team to ensure that their clients are receiving the best support available to help them. You will be required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations, home visits and working with public service partners such as the NHS and community groups.

The candidate should possess extensive knowledge and experience in giving competent accurate advice on welfare benefits in an advice centre, on the telephone and at outreach sessions, up to the level of successful representation at Tribunal for welfare benefit appeals.
